Summer Camp

Unlike the rest of us, who alternatively tried summer camp and hated it, or tried summer camp and loved it, or tried summer camp and liked it and then hated it, Miller never went to sleep-away camp. The thought never crossed his mind: of course he wouldn't like it! It involved things like nature and hiking and eating cheese and watching movies and listening to The Beatles.

Every summer we'd ask Miller what he was doing. The response? "Blah blah Lower East Side blah blah JCC with my dad blah blah summer of Miller blah blah."

Movies

I know what you're thinking: yeah, sure, Miller might like hate the French New Wave, but even the most devoted cineaste sometimes has his peculiarities. But the image is misleading. Miller doesn't have a bone to pick just with 1960's French films, or film noir, or Woody Allen, or 90's romantic comedies. Nope, Miller has a bone to pick with all movies. He hates them. He hates going to them, he hates renting them. Period.

Dinner and a movie, Jonathan?
